It’s been so funny reading all the comments on Facebook about the SNOW in Knoxville from non-native Knoxvillians. All day they’ve been cracking up at us because there’s 2 inches of snow on the ground and Knoxville COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN! Schools were out yesterday before the first flake even fell! David and I were laughing, thinking about how northerners would crack up that we were driving 20mph in a 30mph zone with salted, clear roads. We really do get so excited because it seems snow is DUMPED all around us and we’re left in this dry, sad bubble… every single stinkin year. When I lived in Johnson City during college, it snowed all the time! ETSU wouldn’t shut down unless it was blizzard conditions because it snowed so frequently! So, yes, we may get over excited, stock up on milk + bread, crossing our fingers… but if you experienced the blizzard of 93′ as a kid like I did… you would too! I used to have a shirt that said “I survived the blizzard of 93′!”
So, today I piled up with puppies in the Jeep and we drove around looking for some places to get some cool snow pics! There were some super cool places, but most of them either had a “no trespassing” sign OR I wouldn’t be able to pull back out of the place I needed to stop. Regardless, me and the pups had fun! Here are so shots I managed to get.

Great pics!!! And Knoxville really is too funny. I grew up in Kingsport (near JC) and went to college for awhile at UMass. I went to class in 2 feet of snow with 2 inches of ice underneath it and watched people snowboard to class – ha! ha!! However, I must admit, I did get really excited about this snow — it’s the most I’ve ever had in Knoxville and the longest it’s ever stuck around!!! I’ll take what I can get!!! Great day for shopping!!! I was even scared to go out earlier after reading people’s comments – ha! ha!!
Great comment! It’s as if there is a line somewhere from here to the Tri-Cities that gives them all the snow and leaves us without. I’m guessing it’s an elevation thing, but I’m still jealous. Lets cross our fingers for more!!
